The first treatment that most eye doctor will prescribe is a cataract surgery. Surgery is the only way to cure this disorder; or so as what most doctors say. They will wait until the cataract gets big enough to be removed through surgery. The hole that will be left in the eyes will be replaced by a plastic lens so you can see clearly once more. However, this process can be expensive and may only work for a short period of time before the problem comes back in another part of the eye or in the other eye.
Research shows that stress is the number one cause of cataracts. Majority of the people who get cataracts have gone through some very stressful situations or live in a high stress lifestyle. They don’t take some break or get a time to relax and are always busy. Another factor to this disorder is poor diet, a diet that is high in cholesterol and carbohydrates and low in vitamins and minerals from fruits or vegetables often result to the formation of cataracts.
The risks for developing cataracts can be significantly reduced today by knowing how to relax the eyes and have a healthier diet. Choose the foods that are rich in Vitamins A to E and increase the quantity of fruits and vegetables that you eat. Try to also live a healthy and active lifestyle which includes abstinence from smoking, regular exercise and minimal to no alcohol intake.
Stress and mental fatigue can be greatly reduced by regular exercise. Find the good time to set aside for exercise at least 5 to 6 times a week; even a brisk walk or jog around the block is much better than nothing at all. Take also some time for yourself and try to relax. You can lie down under the sun after work or in the morning and close your eyes for 10-15 minutes as much as possible. Remove some things off from your ‘to do’ list that you think can wait and don’t require immediate attention. Practice saying ‘no’ and try not to take on more work than what you can possibly handle.
Try to minimize the strain and stress in your everyday life so you can improve your eyesight better naturally. Too much stress and strain from our stressful lifestyle is the cause of cataracts. So find a way to relax and do your eyes a favor.
