How To Improve Near or Far Vision

Myopia and Presbyopia are two of the most common disorders of the eyes; these are also known as far and near sightedness. Both of these disorders affect the vision and the distance that is seen when trying to look at things. Both disorders can be treated on their own if wanted. Almost all problems of the eyes are caused by unhealthy practices learned during childhood, and straining of the eyes.

The elongation of the eyeballs causes Myopia.  This disorder is a result of bad habits which include looking only at things close up for extended periods of time. This starts out during school age where children are forced to learn things from books and other materials requiring them to closely look.

Myopia becomes a problem because of the accompanying strain on the eyes, anxiety, frustration and pressure. The excessive pressure to young children to succeed is great. When the subject is boring, it’s very difficult to really learn and understand things being taught. Looking at reading materials for extended periods of time without taking a break can cause eye strains.

Mental strain and psychological issue can also contribute to near sightedness. Myopia can be a result of an anxiety or nervousness about the unforeseen future. The person subconsciously may be scared of what is ahead of them and are unable to see beyond to the future. In their situation, they are already comfortable where they are and they feel safer in their close up environment.

The ability to see objects from far away but not things up close is called Presbyopia. Individuals in their 40’s are commonly affected by far-sightedness. This is the age where the lenses of the eyes begin to get hard. The muscles surrounding the eyes can still be trained to force the eyes to contract even though the lenses are already hard. This disorder is thought to be part of old age, so we can just accept the condition and get a pair of prescription glasses. We let our eyes to be lazy and learn to depend on artificial lenses just to get us through every day.

Presbyopia can also be condition that is just in the mind. People begin to look too far beyond the future and don’t want to look at the things that are right in front of them. They let their concentration to be fixed on their retirement instead of trying to fix the faucet that is leaking today.

Both these eye disorders can be prevented by letting the eyes move around naturally each day. If you are reading something up close for long hours most of the day, why not spend an hour or so looking at objects that are distant. And if you’re always looking at things that are far away, why not get a good book and start to read some pages.
