How To Improve Near or Far Vision

Myopia and Presbyopia are two of the most common disorders of the eyes; these are also known as far and near sightedness. Both of these disorders affect the vision and the distance that is seen when trying to look at things. Both disorders can be treated on their own if wanted. Almost all problems of the eyes are caused by unhealthy practices learned during childhood, and straining of the eyes.

The elongation of the eyeballs causes Myopia.  This disorder is a result of bad habits which include looking only at things close up for extended periods of time. This starts out during school age where children are forced to learn things from books and other materials requiring them to closely look.

Myopia becomes a problem because of the accompanying strain on the eyes, anxiety, frustration and pressure. The excessive pressure to young children to succeed is great. When the subject is boring, it’s very difficult to really learn and understand things being taught. Looking at reading materials for extended periods of time without taking a break can cause eye strains.

Mental strain and psychological issue can also contribute to near sightedness. Myopia can be a result of an anxiety or nervousness about the unforeseen future. The person subconsciously may be scared of what is ahead of them and are unable to see beyond to the future. In their situation, they are already comfortable where they are and they feel safer in their close up environment.

The ability to see objects from far away but not things up close is called Presbyopia. Individuals in their 40’s are commonly affected by far-sightedness. This is the age where the lenses of the eyes begin to get hard. The muscles surrounding the eyes can still be trained to force the eyes to contract even though the lenses are already hard. This disorder is thought to be part of old age, so we can just accept the condition and get a pair of prescription glasses. We let our eyes to be lazy and learn to depend on artificial lenses just to get us through every day.

Presbyopia can also be condition that is just in the mind. People begin to look too far beyond the future and don’t want to look at the things that are right in front of them. They let their concentration to be fixed on their retirement instead of trying to fix the faucet that is leaking today.

Both these eye disorders can be prevented by letting the eyes move around naturally each day. If you are reading something up close for long hours most of the day, why not spend an hour or so looking at objects that are distant. And if you’re always looking at things that are far away, why not get a good book and start to read some pages.

How Computers Affect Your Vision

The use of computers is being required by more and more jobs today. With the information age being available on the computer, a lot of people are spending endless hours in front of the computer screen. After a long day in front of the computer, it usually results in feeling of tiredness, exhaustion, pain in the eyes or head or irritability. Staring at computers and not knowing how to relax and give your eyes a short break can cause irreparable damage and other eye problems.

Today, computers are considered as a part of our everyday lives; we all need them and are use to them being a part of our daily lives. However, it is important that we also listen to our bodies and relax or take a break when needed.

Listen to what your body says; it knows better than you do when it’s time to take a break. Do not work until your eyes burn; you missed all the previous signs. It’s important that you take short breaks every hour of work. This means standing up at least every hour and walk around. However, it’s not just enough that you only take short breaks. Practice also looking away from the screen every 15-20 minutes for a couple of minutes. Look at close and far away objects so you can have your eyes adjust and move around. The main goal is to prevent eye strain first of all.

Keep your eyes lubricated by blinking as often as you can. Take a couple of minutes to roll the eyeballs around; you can do this with your eyes open or closed so as you won’t look silly in your desk. Close and open your eyes often to give them a short break. Yawn if you have too. Yawning stretches out the muscles of the jaw and keeps them from becoming tense causing headaches and eye strain.

Try to move around often. You should always be in a comfortable position so adjust your body or chair as often as possible. Adjust your keyboard or monitor so you don’t have to stretch your neck or look at objects from a strange angle. Try to prevent glare on the screen, adjust it as the sun changes its position or better get a screen protector.

Always keep your work area well lit and bright. Bright lights lighten up the mood and can give you positive feelings. While on the other hand dim lights can bring down your mood and make you feel sluggish. Making small changes in your work area and having breaks often can prevent your long hours in front of the computer screen from causing permanent damage to your eyes.

How to Naturally Treat Glaucoma

You may have already heard about Glaucoma, but what exactly is it? Glaucoma is a medical condition that is caused by the excessive pressure to the eyes. Although it may sound painful, most people have no idea they even have it. Glaucoma is scary because by the time the first symptoms show up it is too late to do anything about it. Once the deteriorating condition starts, there is almost nothing that can be done to stop it.

The tunnel vision and the narrowing in the field of vision are the first symptoms of Glaucoma. But this can quickly go into the final stages of Glaucoma which is permanent blindness.

The poor circulation around the eyes is the main cause of Glaucoma, plugged channels, and poor drainage. These symptoms are caused by too much stress, strain, outside stressors, and too many toxins or harmful chemicals in the body.

So far medication is the most feasible treatment for Glaucoma, this is for the tension or to drain the fluid from the eyes. These are both quick fixes and they only work to relive the symptoms, not the problem. Most people will still end up with blindness. These fixes just prolong the inevitable for awhile longer.

Glaucoma is usually caused by stress and once diagnosed with the disease the stress doesn’t stop. In most cases, the stress only becomes worse. Now people are anxious and nervous and scared of the blindness. Fear of the unknown and worry starts to consume their daily life, only adding to the stress and strain on the eyes. In the end, they are only making the symptoms worse instead of taking steps to try and fix the issue.

Anyone who suffers from Glaucoma should get immediate medical attention because it can result to permanent blindness if left untreated. But there are certain steps that you can take to treat this eye disorder yourself by learning to relax the eyes. Take the time each night to fully relax before going to sleep. While lying in bed with your eyes closed, picture your muscles relaxing from your head down to your toes. Focus especially on relaxing the muscles around the eyes. Fully relaxing before falling asleep will ensure a better night’s sleep and waking up more refreshed.

Glaucoma can be a scary illness, but by simply knowing how to relax your eyes can be the best natural method to treat this condition.

Significance of Relaxation For Your Eyes

An important part of your overall health is relaxation. It can reduce stress and help the body calm down and have a better sleep. Relaxation can also relieve unnecessary tension and give an overall good feeling. Relaxation can also help the eyes see more clearly and focus better.

The most challenging part of relaxation is keeping mind quiet. Thoughts constantly move at a fast pace and as the ‘to do’ list grows so do the racing thoughts. Shutting down the mind is the tricky part of total relaxation, but it’s possible. The key is to move all that energy stuck in the head down through the entire body and out the feet. May sound like hocus pocus, but it actually works through a process known as ‘exhaling through the feet’.

This is how it works. Lie down on your back in a dark room; this is great just before you go to sleep. Imagine your breath moving from your lungs down through the entire body. As you exhale, picture the air moving down toward your toes. Imagine your breath passing through every organ in your body, liver, heart, kidneys and continuing down the thighs, calves, ankles, and toes. Exhale completely, until all the air is out of your lungs and the next breath naturally comes. Inhale normally, don’t force anything, and let your body do its own work. Once your lungs are full once more, start the process again of picturing the air moving through the body.

Do this exercise as many as possible until you fall asleep. When you wake up the following morning you will notice that you feel more relaxed and refreshed ready to face the day. A great night’s sleep is important in reducing stress and strain and start the day right. Staying up late and waking up early, leaves us feeling groggy and sleepy all day. This can leave us ‘off’ for the remainder of the day. We are not as productive and our eyes are straining the whole day. That’s why it’s important that you have enough rest, but not excessively, so you can start your day correctly and in a positive mind frame. You’ll feel more energized and happy to go to work.

A very important habit that you should develop is relaxation. Learning good relaxation techniques can help you get a better sleep and your whole body including your eyes will greatly benefit from it.

Keep Your Eyes Healthy With These Exercises

Straining and staring are the worse things that you can do to your own eyes. After a long day at work, the eyes are tired and need to relax and renew to improve vision. The constant strain day in and day out does nothing but damage the eyes. Below are three exercises designed to relieve the eye strain.

The Dot exercise is the first eye exercise. To do this, find a dot or a comma on the page and focus on making it as clear as possible. Stare at the period until it comes into focus. Chances are after a few seconds the period will actually became less clear and blurry.

Try to relax your eyes. Close your eyes for a minute and let them relax. Now look at the period again without straining. Don’t stare; instead, let your eyes slowly move around the page, over and around the period. Don’t only focus on the period, the eyes need movement. Make sure to blink a bit. Try closing your eyes and picturing the dot and then look at it again. Once the eyes are relaxed it should be easier to see the period.

The Word exercise is the second exercise. Find a five or more letters long word on the page. Stare at the word so that all the letters are in view, but don’t move the eyes. Focus entirely on the whole word trying to get the best image in your head. Again, staring and concentrating hard can cause the word to blur.

Then relax your eyes and allow them to move slowly over, around, and across each letter of the word. Blink. Allow the eyes to lead you; don’t force them to look at what you want. The word should be clearer when you look at it again. Letter the eyes move around is what will help them work best without the strain.

The Double Vision exercise is the third eye exercise. This exercise is meant to get your eyes to work together as a team. Most people use one eye to look at an object, while the other eye does its own thing. Squinting can help bring an object into focus with both eyes, but this can cause unnecessary stress.  The trick is to relax the eyes, focus on the object in a calm way, and allow both eyes to focus together.

Practicing these exercises in relaxing your eyes is a great way to develop lasting habits and make sure that you have better eyesight for the years to come.

Improve your Eyesight Better with Healthy Diet

Having a healthy diet is not only good for your health but it can also help improve your vision. Healthy diet plus exercise is good for your overall health, which results to the proper functioning of your eyes and improving your eyesight better.

Well-balanced diet includes foods such as fruits, nuts, vegetables, lean protein and low-fat dairy products. Proteins from fish is good for your body, it contains essential Omega 3 fatty acids that are found to be beneficial for your brain and helps in mental focus. Best vegetables for your eye health are spinach, bean sprouts, endive, celery, cucumber and of course carrots.

Avoid eating too much processed and deep fried foods, these kinds of foods can cause serious damages to your eyesight and health. Choose the foods that are high in vitamins A, B, C and E, these are the nutrients that your body needs. Other foods that are also rich in nutrients are raisin, soy beans, peanuts, apricots and sunflower seeds.

The amount of acid and alkaline levels is controlled by the body’s own pH balance system. Uric crystals develop around the joints resulting to arthritis when there is too much acid. The eyes can also be damaged by the high levels of acid. In order for the body to maintain this balance, it needs nutrients from fruits, vegetables and grains. The amount of acid in the body is reduced by fruits and vegetables; where as animal products can increase the acid levels. It is important that you find that balance in your diet. Not eating enough fruits and vegetables can greatly interrupt this pH balance in the body. So remember to always eat the right kind of foods to improve your eyesight better.
